Ghostbusters Afterlife - The movie.
« on: January 01, 2022, 11:37:15 am »
Ghostbusters (1984) - The original   :-+

Ghostbusters II (1989) - Forgettable, in my opinion.  :P

Ghostbusters (2016) - Never watched it.  Never intend to.  (The trailer was enough.)

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) - If you liked the original, you will, almost assuredly, like this one.     :-+
Sorry - no spoilers.  Watch it for yourself.  I did.

Am I the only one that enjoyed the third one? The reviews almost felt like Bill Murray might lose cultists or something. I never bought into it because he is so successful that nothing can hurt his reputation. I also like that style of metal working in the movie, looks like someone had fun with braze and torches.

If he needed peoples support he would never have done his cameo in Zombie Land (no actor that is scared for their reputation wants to die on screen, especially Bill Murray, he is larger then life).

Props for making the set not mars base #2345235. that amplifier looked novel. Aluminum is done to death

Yes, the queefing jokes were really appropriate for the big screen. The incoherent plot helped a lot.
It was stunning and brave, and showed the entire world, girls can be funny too, which we didn't know before of course. 12/10.
Anyway, it is officially out of canon, so why hit a dead horse.  :horse:

To mention a subject that many wouldn’t know about, on a forum that has a population of impressionable youngsters, is very inappropriate - please DO NOT do that.

In addition, this thread is SO SO off topic, I’m surprised it’s not been canned yet. But again, if you see something as “inappropriate” (and it is VERY crude and very much so), don’t mention such filth here either.

Who is going to call for this nonsense thread to be trashed?

Sorry to put your knickers in a twist.

I've reported it, so let's see what happens.

Mind you, I was curious about the model of the scope in the lab scene.

I'm not upset, you have to understand that this is crass and inappropriate. Having decency and standards doesn't mean you're a prude, its about rising above crudity and filth.

Thanks for reporting it. 🙂

There sure is.  It was released yesterday.  (Saw it with the wife on release day.)

Dave is into it - BIG TIME.  Have a look on his second channel for his reaction videos on the trailers.

Whilst this thread remains, I’ll comment. It always baffles me how these modern directors think they can “recreate” a sequel of a film that was made decades ago, and get anywhere NEAR the quality of the original.

Decades ago, people could actually act properly. Decades ago, music was actually musical and nice to listen to for the most part. Decades ago, we hadn’t quite descended deep down into the sewer of the lack of morality or decency which we have stooped to now. The low-hanging fruit “anything goes” trash that we’ve become used to seeing as “the norm” these days.

Everyone’s so pleased with themselves, they think cracking gutter jokes and Captain Obvious lines is a substitute for actual talent and wit. Profanity is not a substitute for intelligent observational comedy. One doesn’t need to profane to be laughed at.

Watch any chat show now, especially here in England, and all they do is demonstrate how little sense they have, it’s almost like a playground kiddies convention.

I will have to agree with you there.  It's always a fear I have when seeing sequels rolled out for any movie franchise.

This latest offering has delivered something worthy - in my opinion.

Oh - One thing I will put out there is this....  At the end while the credits are rolling, you will see a full screen credit for someone and you will wonder: "Where were they in the movie?"  The next minute will answer that - and likely make you laugh, or at least smile.

That teaser will just have to hang around for time immemorial, as I couldn’t think of anything I’d not want to watch more than this. Hehe

Have you thought about seeing something online, and having a first reaction, which is not: "Hay yougsters, get off my lawn"

Thanks for the heads up. I just watched it and it was a nice blast from the past indeed ;D

That's true, but it's no why most modern movies are so bad.

Maybe, but there has always been a mix of high and low brow movies that could pull an audience.

They real problem with most modern movies is they don't take the script seriously. Sure, you have movies like BladeRunner 2049, where the script probably looked good, but they let too many scenes drag on to the point of tedium. However, in most cases its a lack of attention to a solid script. Ghostbusters 2016 feels like it was thrown together quickly by amateurs who used some rough notes, instead of a script.

Bad movies and bad actors have been around forever. It is just that the bad movies are easy to forget (unless they are so bad that you have to remember not to watch them ever; 'dirty dancing' for example -vomit face here-)
