Give me something good
« on: November 25, 2019, 03:23:09 pm »
I thought this might deserve a thread as it's the first advert I've seen of this type here in Australia. Bit of a bank promo, however the message is there somewhere.

I prefer to buy for myself and mainly just exchange milestone gifts, been like that for 30 years now and am still loved, so must be doing something right. On the subject of sustainability recently I forgot my shopping bags and got chastised by a lady for using plastic at the supermarket, oh the look I got.

It's not an entirely new concept but gift registers have been around a while for weddings and birthdays. For weddings I normally just give some cash, bit of a cold heartless gift but it ends up quite useful when you have expensive weddings.

If you are too high on the Aspergers scale to realize what the advert is about, the idea is to minimize waste. Done by gifting based on what people want rather than just gifting random presents that may end up in the trash. They are also supporting and encouraging sustainable businesses, but I think the message slightly off when you attach a huge bank brand to it.

It would be way better to see a credit union or a profit share type company for the sustainable business rather than seeing a bank doing the marketing. I had a look at the products and most of it is consumer shit anyway.
