Good book about smart grids?
« on: May 03, 2020, 04:44:23 pm »
Hello everyone!  I want to read a good book by my own about smart grids, but closer to the electronic point of view. I know much about power electronics and electric drives. Could you please suggest me any?

Are you trying to find out what a smart grid is? Are you trying to understand the details of how the inverter-based systems respond? Something in-between?

I think you need to specify what area you're looking for info on, because it's a HUGE topic. You might want to search thru some of the many many IEEE documents on the various smart-grid related topics. There's a zillion of them. I like to do simulations using some of the built-in libraries in Matlab/Simulink/Simscape to better understand the performance of solar arrays and inverters, etc.

But it all depends on what you are interested in. Telecommunications? Control systems? Power systems? Disturbance response? and on and on....

- The best engineers know enough to realize they don't know nuthin'...
- Those who agree with you can do no wrong. Those who disagree can do no right.
- I'm always amazed at how many people "already knew that" after you explain it to them in detail...

The ACM is an international organization for computing pros and they have a digital library that has reams of information about every aspect of computing. Its temporarilly free, because of the coronavirus
