here in Katoomba there is a tip and in that tip there is a wonderous place know to some people(probably all people) as "the recycling shed.
me + my bros found many computers there:
4gb ram, 1tb hard drive, 3ghz, 2gb graphics, HUGE cooling, antec case
hp media computer
laptops chargers batteries hard drives wifi routers power supplies flat screen tv practically anything you can think of
but yout not allowed to takje electronics. so be sneaky >:D :-DD

I know the guy who runs our local tip, I've had TVs, car CD players and various other stuff, but all the really nice stuff he keeps himself. His whole house looks like a PC and electronics showroom, as well as all the high end domestic appliances.
Most of it gets chucked because people don't know their stuff has a fuse in it :-DD

Not there now of course, but when I was a kid in the 60's I was allowed along with a few others access to PYE electronics dump on Coldhams lane Cambridge. I found al sorts of wondrous things on that pile, if it was not up to spec or did not work or jus surplus it was dumped in a pile at the back of the factory and when the pile got too big it was hauled of somewhere. I had things like microwave horns and guides Rotary converters transistors even whole transceiver's some of the stuff was still in its packaging when I got it. I still have an unused rotary converter (other than the few second I have run it to test) that I picked up still in its box, they were used for the HT supply in mobile transmitters in the 1950's to early 1960's.
