Title: Hakko 707 desoldering heater
Post by: Wallace Gasiewicz on May 16, 2022, 07:05:28 pm
Does anyone know of a source for the heater part of the Hakko 707 desoldering gun??
Or is there something that can be used instead of the original part? Perhaps another Hakko heater???

The Hakko 483 heater is the same (483-012 or 483-H-V12), but that doesn't help much since you can't find those either  :-//

You're out of luck. I have a 707 as well and parts are not available since decades.

...but maybe a few hours digging deep

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32979065317.html (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32979065317.html)

might give you something to try. I have no clue if that item works but it might be the start of a trail that leads you to a compatible part? I used the search terms "ceramic desoldering heater".

Thanks for the replies
Alex's suggestion might actually work, it is about the correct wattage
The 707 does not have temp sensor...not a big deal
Will investigate further.
Drawings with dimensions might be helpful, don't see any dimensions on the Hakko manual drawings either.
However dimensions can't be too far off...or could they?
At this price might be worth a try.

Rather than kludge in a different heater, I think it might make more sense to replace the whole gun with a ZD/Pro'sKit/Yihua gun.

But then I would ask if your Hakko vacuum pump is working well enough to make that worthwhile, since that is a real weak spot in the 707.

Sure, the 707 is pushing middle age now, it's been around for what, 40+ years?

I guess anyone still using one is not using it for commercial production... I assume it's a hobby tool now.

Guess it depends how much energy, time, and money he wants to put into it. At some point a modern tool makes more sense.

As for the pump, the flapper valve thingy turns into a buttery substance and it fails. I have made a few from a silicone kitchen mat. Works well enough. I'm not reaching the same vacuum as the datasheet says but my Commodore 64 can't tell the difference...

Here's a PDF I made of the dimensions I used

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mpJc4Xyw8l8JnnZhL2fQx4KkgRQubvAt/view?usp=sharing

Sorry about the colors and line widths.

edit: I suppose I could mail one out, PM me.

How different is the 707's heater with the next generation A1008 used in the 470's (802 gun)?
Dumpster rescue of a Hakko 470, needed a new heater A1008 or A1029 which are discontinued. Instead, I did the heater retrofit (conversion from 802 to 809 gun) to A1313 heater. So you need a new sleeve, nut, tips, and seal for the conversion. Pics below for ideas etc.
The A1313 heater (which is a generation after the A1008) they increased wattage, bigger diameter and added the longer tube. The 470's controller board looks at heating element resistance for temperature sensing, there is no dedicated temp sensor.

What I find is the base is not worth that much, despite having the monster vacuum pump. It's the guns that get dropped and broken and are worth almost all of the money. Many surplus 470's for sale... but missing wand. I thought there were Hakko gun knockoffs though on Aliexpress under "Yihua 948" (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000811427965.html) but you'd have to change the controller to use them, they are 4 wire heaters. Or look at Proskit. (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000348793769.html)

Hakko A1014 Valve Plate fits many models FM-204, FR-400/410, 470, 470B, 472D, 474, 484, 701, 702, 702B, 703B. You can still buy them.

I know there's a Hakko valve plate that looks just like the 707's but it's like half the size and thickness of what's needed.

That is much smaller than the 707's valve plate.  There was someone in a previous thread who claimed he got it to work in a 707, but I don't understand exactly how:

Here's a baffling find

I have no idea what these are used for. Maybe these come in different lengths.

Resurrecting an old thread, but I'm also on the hunt for a Hakko (or anything that will fit) heater element for the 700 and 483 desoldering stations.
I have recovered two of these from my old employer, they were being dumped (probably for good reason) and both the guns have dead heating elements.
Wally, did the AliExpress element above work? (If you tried it)
Happy to try anything that will physically fit and kludge the rest.

I'm now in a similar situation. Has anyone been able to source a replacement heating element for the HAKKO 802 de-soldering gun? I converted one of my stations to the 809 heater and other necessary components, but continue my quest to find a replacement or workaround for the HAKKO A1029 element used in the 802 gun.

Found this on AliExpress  and messaged the vendor to get more specifics. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832820802712.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.727638da9lZVxu&mp=1&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832820802712.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.727638da9lZVxu&mp=1&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa)
