Half a kindom for source of these binding posts!
« on: July 07, 2012, 12:31:50 am »
Hi everyone, I looked and looked and can't find a source of those binding posts. Is there a diff name for them? Many brands of power supplies and programmable loads have them. If you could tell me a source where I can buy them, I will send you some love via Paypal or ship you some components as a reward.

No id. Easiest way is probably to crop the picture to the terminals and put a buy request on Alibaba (with an appropriate desription to aid the search&match engines). Done that before for other parts succesfully.

Then you'll get someone respond that they can get them for $1K a set .
(Where they buy the powersupply above and unsolder them :P )

The 3711A manual refers to them as "innovative easy to use inputs" or something like that, so it might be a custom part for them. What other products use them?

(Regular binding posts go on Alibaba for as low as $0.001 each. Even with an MOQ of 1000, that's only a $1 order. It's amazing how cheap you can find things like this.)

I have a very similar 300W load, which I naturally heavily modified as soon as I received it, as well as just about anything else
I buy from china. On the load and P/Supplies, it is easy enough to find "standard" terminal posts of many types that fit pretty
well. Sometime I make up a custom spacer, or enlarge a hole, but it's worth a little effort. Check wit your favourite suppliers.
Hello <tap> <tap> .. is this thing on?

I have those same (or at least similar) binding posts on my Itech DC Electronic Load. Unfortunately, however, I have never seen them for sale by themselves.

That being said, check out http://www.futurlec.com/Banana-Posts.shtml  The ones at the bottom of the page look to be quite nice.

My BK precision electronic load uses the same ones.
And AFAIK, Array and BK Precisions parent company are not related. So looks like both have sourced the same terminals.

Any chance BK dummy loads are made by Array?

Nope, they are made by their own subsidiary, Itech

I'm curious... what's so great about these ? Can the cap be removed to reveal a banana plug or not even ?

Binding posts! They are really only good for fork terminals- duh.

They look good, that's about it.
No cross-hole for bare wire and no 4mm socket for banana's.
Only practical way of terminating is with crimp fork terminals.

Is it just the knob style of the post you are really interested in? If so, could you have one 3D printed?

You could go ask Alibaba, or even Array or Itech.

("I would like some spare binding posts for my 3711A..." 8))

There are big obvious buttons above the text box, too. They even have tooltips.
