Hameg HMO3524 or Tektronics MSO3034

Hi

i'm buying a new scope.
which of these two should i take?
Hameg HMO3524 or Tektronics MSO3034
the hameg is about half the cost, but will it be good to me in the long run.
i have a tek 200MHz 4 channel for a long time now, but it is going bad.
if i'm on a small time base, the noise floor is hugh.

thanks

Mambo:
Consider the Yokogawa DLM2034. It's a mixed signal 350MHz 4 Channel Oscilloscope with logic inputs. You should find it's price between the two, and it ought to outperform both. If Deadtime, Screen update rate or memory depth is important to you, then you really should check them out.

EEVblog:
Brief glance I say go for the Hameg.
At half the price for similar banner specs, hard to argue.

2500 waveforms/sec vs 50,000/sec on the Tek though. Big difference, but not quite worth double IMO.

Dave.

One of the things is the digital phosphorus, would the persistance feature on the hameg do the same?
the yokogawa also looks nice. indeed the price point in between.

If it does it won't be as high performance as the Tek at 50,000/sec. Is it worth double?, your call.
The Hameg has superior sample rate though.
Tek has a bigger screen.
I like the sound of the "reference class" noise performance on the Hameg.

Dave.
