Having trouble find a specific video.
« on: February 01, 2014, 12:08:28 pm »
Hello everyone, a few months back I came across a video of Mr. David Jones talking about a cool little item he had just purchased. He had bought from what I can remember was a 1950s era IBM computer bit that was the size of his hand, full of resistors and just plain cool. I would like to show my students this video but cannot find it. I have looked through pretty much all of EEVBlog's youtube videos, all 600 and something. Can anyone help?

Thank You,
Gary

Was it the old Hard disk that Dave had, As I remember it was very large and held less than a floppy. I cant find it  but remember seeing it some time ago.

Are you thinking of the LVDC board that Fran sent him in a recent Mailbag episode (561)?  I think I saw mention that the construction style/technology used on those boards was also seen in some contemperaneous IBM systems...

No, It was a byte or probably bit as he called it that was made up of numerous resistors. I believe I remember he said he bought it from someone in Sweden for $400 or $500 bucks.
I figured it would be a long shot, but I do appreciate everyones help.

I went onto Ebay and found it at World of Books, I was happy to get a hardback for $7. Every other book I have bought from them has been in great condition even if it was described as average.

I love using Abebooks to find books:

$3.41 inc postage in the US.
Even shipping to Oz is almost always quite reasonable.
