Title: HELP
Post by: cossy350 on January 21, 2020, 08:30:28 pm
Hi everyone I wonder if you could help me out

I have a low amp clamp which are used for parasitic drains on a battery for automotive use but obviously it is very sensitive and it is picking up interference all around I was wondering if there's any type of tape I can put on the outside of the clamp to stop interference or is there anything else I can do to try and stop as much outside interference as possible so when I put it over the cable I am just getting a true Reading from the cable and not interference everywhere else

What I was thinking of doing as you can see from the picture on the black clamps is putting some sort of shielding tape on the outside but I don't know which is the best stuff to use if anyone can give me any ideas it would be much appreciated thank you

Snap-on is fantastic for mechanical tool. Absolutely my favorite one.
For EE stuff you should go with Fluke or similar.

If the noise is too high how about to wrap the cable arounf the clamp twice? You will double the signal reading and the noise will be the same.

Example: current flowing 1A, reading with double wrapped cable 2A.

Of course if you wrap it up n times you will have n times the reading.

That said are you sure the current itself is not stable?
