Quick summary is that Becky Button got into a pretty bad accident, she survived but at a big financial cost. (Please no discussions on the circumstances of the accident. I also did not know about her until another member of the maker community announced her situation.)

It's in my nature to help those in need, but that's clearly a situation well beyond the capacity for just one person to (directly) make a difference. It's also easy to understand that not everyone wants to just give away their own money. My interest in cryptocurrency mining, however, does offer a solution. One Raspberry Pi and one Android smartphone (on one IP) can make about $12/month or so mining Swagbucks. Multiply that by a few thousand setups run by makers and we'll end up with a distributed supercomputer, each piece working on a small part of the problem.

Here's the script to run on the Pi in order to supervise the mining, will require tweaking to get it to work:

Hope the code is clear enough for other makers to understand how to make use of it. It was developed when Swagbucks mining was far more profitable and I never thought I would ever share the code with anyone else or have it run on any setup except my own. But now, I have little to lose and the maker community has a lot to gain. Even if that skyrockets the difficulty and significantly cuts into my mining profits, I'll be happy if it means the maker community is gaining far more than I could otherwise give them.

Lots of comments on the GoFundMe page saying they got there because of Naomi Wu. Awesome to see another Maker helping to spread the word... the community is gathering together.

I would like to see the option of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency donations. Ideally Curecoin/Foldingcoin even though that would be more appropriate for medical bills due to cancer. But not Swagbucks even though that could theoretically allow the miners to directly fund her, since the Swagbucks exchange is not particularly trustworthy with large exchanges. (In fact, I think the only good thing about Swagbucks is the good mining profitability.)
