It should. The only thing to keep in mind, if you want to "watch" them on mute, mute the browser tab, not the video itself.

One question though - what is the point? If you are not getting any views, you won't start getting them after monetization.

From what I understand, youtube does not suggest video's with very low view counts to other users, and my guess is that once you've passed a few hundred views, the the youtube monkeys think your video might be more interesting to others and start recommending them to more people.

But watch time and viewers are different things. Watching a video for a few minutes is enough to trigger a view count. But you have only one view a day, no matter how much you watch the same video.

Watch time is required for monetization. I think you can watch the same video over and over, and it will count as watch time.

Half the known universe is hoping to make a million out of YT :)

You need 1000 subscribers for a start. That takes a very long time (years) unless

- you are a pretty girl doing something men, especially teenagers (many of whom live on YT), like to watch (doesn't have to be sexual; search for e.g. Nancy Pi and her excellent maths lessons, or one of many camping gear reviews with a girl presenter - gogle for e.g. girl doing camping gear review, e.g. Homemade Wanderlust etc etc)

- you have found a way to make cold fusion work

- your video shows something lots of people google for (e.g. how to kiss, where is the windows start button, etc)

You get the idea. The formulae are obvious in most cases.

BUT and this is a BIG BUT you have to promote the video on other social media to start with e.g.

- pump it on facebook (every relevant fb forum; there are likely hundreds)
- pump it on instagram
- pump it on twatter
- pump it everywhere

So you spend your whole day doing that.

Same with book publishing these days. Unless you are a big name, say Tom Clancy (he's dead unfortunately), you need to work social media almost 24/7/365.

I run a forum (tech related, not electronics) and see this all the time. Most people just don't "get it".

There is also a lot of skill in making a good video; accordingly, most are crap. YT downsamples HD to 2-3mbps which kills quality so you need to know how to make low bitrate vids look acceptable (stabilised camera, etc).

i upload 1 video every couple of days and my videos altogether in 48hrs gets around 300 - 500 views on average some times can be a lot more like 1000+ but most of the videos i post only get watched maybe 1-3 mins or so

I don't know your channel, and I don't see it mentioned anywhere.  If you pm me a link to you, I could check some of your videos and give you some feedback.

Being consistent is good ... better upload 1 or 2 videos a week (but the same days, even same period of time in the day, for example in the afternoon) , instead of 1 video one week, then 3 videos the next.
Lots of people make the mistake of uploading videos of various themes  (ex .. gaming related and then some electronics repair and then some other theme) ... that won't attract subscribers.

The hour count is not a bit deal, it can be easily done with quality content.
Don't worry so much about it.
If you don't make a few tens/hundred of hours of view times a month, your ad revenue would be crap either way. You'd probably make dollars a month, at best.. I mean less than 10-20$ a month.
Lots of people use ad blockers, people don't click on ads, so you'd basically get revenue from impressions which is not as good..

The subscriber thing is your biggest hurdle, and few people are gonna subscribe if you upload random stuff, or short length (a few minutes) video, or videos of poor quality.

Oh and if you upload copyrighted stuff like music videos or "reactions" you may be denied when it comes to approving you.
