Agreed it's rubbish but when it does work it still seems to be faster. It's probably configured to deny service rather than give an extremely slow service when it gets busy.

Do you know what's causing the highest server load?

Try reducing the thumbnail size and reducing the colour depth from 32-bit to 8-bit, if possible. I've noticed that some of the thumbnail files are larger than the originals because of the high colour depth used.

Probably. But at least HostMonster was a known quantity, and I still have my account there.

It appears to be a server problem. I cannot even get into phpMyAdmin in cPanel.

I don't know enough about this shit to know what's going on.

I sometimes get database errors after clicking he post button, then it redirects me back to my post but when I check the thread, my post has been appended to the thread.

I got the 503 error on here starting about 20 minutes ago, so decided to hop over the AmpHour and got the exact same error. They both seemed to come back at nearly the same time.

Don't know if they're connected, but thought it might be diagnostic for someone.

the errors are basically saying that the SERVER is to busy or is "not there" thats nothing to do with SMF thats before you even get into the forum.
