Hello
Does anyone know where you can find a circuit for a dog shock collar? I'm NOT interested in shocking animals, I'm just interested in how you create that effect on skin. I was trying to figure out how to do it and apart from build a large boost converter, I can't figure it out.
Thanks
Docmur

I fail to see why you need a "large" boost converter ? I also don't know what this effect on skin is you are after?
As for dog shock collars, they are disgusting cruel and unnecessary devices that are also total bullshit.

The effect I want to a large static shock.
You'd have reasonable 3.3 / 5V on one side and 25k volts on the other. I might have the wrong, I'm not a hardware engineer.
Agree the collars are BS for animals.

In regards to your particular project something like a BBQ or gas oven igniter may suffice, cheap and readily available without the risk of inflicted harm, to a certain extent.
The sharing of information in regards to these types of devices is generally frowned upon on both this and other forums and is clearly defined in the forum rules, others have been here before seeking advice on tasers and the like and they have been promptly discouraged or even dispatched.

I know but I'm more interested in learning how one would do that, I have absolutely no interest in shocking anyone or anything, but it's remarkably hard to find circuits for this. Anyway, I'll keep looking,.

Cattle Prod and it's not intended as an insult, it's a recommendation..... :)

Interesting, I didn't think of that :)

Another good cal :), thanks for the advice guys,

Oscillators, Transformers, Cockroft Walton multipliers are what you want to google.
-
Another possibility is Royer oscillator
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royer_oscillator (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royer_oscillator)
Of reversed transformer ( 6V/230V) only.

You can also look in to electrostatic generators.
They used to be big, but there are plenty of ways to make them much smaller these days.

ok, just buy something like this then...

just be careful! :o

Buy an electric fly swatter from the dollar bin and tear it down.
