I guess now its getting trickier to navigate in this forum without bumping on these fluffers crap oot posts, its time to update the ignore list again.  :(

My feelings exactly.

I have all the respect for Kiriakos and Shafri as I do for all the members of this forum. Kiriakos' reviews, advice and opinions are always appreciated, and Shafri has a lot of strong and welcome contributions especially on the software side. Thank you!
However, one can ask why these two guys feel obliged to have an opinion on everything. One can wonder whether they are in a race to dethrone Simon in the top posters list. (One may think at using strong terms such as drama queens,  attention whores, etc, but please excuse the fool that would commit such indelicacy).

And then you have the knights in white armor that feel the need to protect the "innocent".

Even if I feel that Uncle Vernon and BoredAtWork are perfectly justified to bash our Kiriakos (Gia sou koumbare!), you must admit that in this thread, Uncle Vernon has been positive (in his own cute way) towards Kiriakos:

Recent reviews by Dave, John and even our renowned Mediterranean loon have shown to be detailed, accurate and without undue vendor influence.

However, our two top "contributors" have the need to feel victimized and oppressed. Come on people, it's nice to have strong opponents, since those are usually the ones that are willing to correct you when needed. That always useful. I would love to have my own personal nemesis, but unfortunately, such an attention is only for those who deserve it.

Meanwhile, I still haven't got an answer to whether BravoV's post has been removed by himself or by the moderator(s) (which I would not like and I would use this fact as a reason to get the hell away from this forum).

Cheers and keep the fire burning,
Dan

Sorry for splitting this post from the other thread, but I felt is was warranted.

I don't recall that BravoV post, but it shows that it was last edited by Simon, one of the two moderators here.
I don't know what it said, and I don't care, but it must have been something inappropriate for Simon to have removed it.
I trust him that it was necessary to remove it, and he's earned that trust.
Removing posts and banning people are last resorts on this forum, and it is rarely done.
I am very well aware that the heavy handed net-cop routine is what many people hate on other forums, and one of the reasons why they have come here.
I hate rules, and I personally don't mind a bit of anarchy, but I think we have to have some resemblance of rules and standards here now that the forum is getting quite large.
There are very few rules - and a major one is no personal attacks. I don't think that's unreasonable, or that hard to avoid.
If you think that's unreasonable, or you can't help yourself, then please go elsewhere, you are not wanted here.
If we have to delete posts or ban people who break the few rules we have, we will do it. Thankfully that's very rare that has to be done.

I hate having to make posts like this, so please don't make me run out of bubblegum.

Play nice.

Thanks
Dave.

Greetings EEVBees:

--I will have to agree with the administration on this one. Given what I have seen, that was allowed, if something was removed, you can bet it was egregious.

--This Blog has officially reached the Big Time, and is no longer a nerd niche. So please do not treat it like public restroom at a low rent pub, a place to scribble and hawk.

--I am always surprised when people who know much more than I do about Electronics, people who can phrase, and type, and spell, very skillfully, resort to hate filled rhetoric, and disgustingly profane accusations of perversions. That sort of thing hurts this forum.

--I assure you, I can make you out to be fourteen kinds of numbskull, and avoid the profane and disgusting all the way along. But I would much rather not.

--Let us let bygones be bygones, yes? Happy Holidays

--P.S. I am still betting that Sagan gets a brand new state of the art DMM from "Sandy Claws" the secular Holiday Crab.

I think that video is funny.  Gonna have to check out that movie (They Live).  As for the topic at hand.  I agree with Dave and SgtRock. Not that it matters since in the end it only matters what Dave thinks on this forum. His forum, his rules.

I do remember his post. While it questioned Kiriakos' general ability to competently review a handheld oscilloscope in the light of the questions that our favorite Greek was asking on the forum, it was objective, used a polite language and it definitely was orders of magnitude less virulent than what's happening right now on this thread

I trust him that it was necessary to remove it, and he's earned that trust.

You are the master, of course, but my feeling is that this time it was unwarranted.

If you think that's unreasonable, or you can't help yourself, then please go elsewhere, you are not wanted here.

I don't get it. Are you aware that you are coming a bit strong? I'm aware that you intend to do this as a general statement to all the members of this forum, but among all the threads where people are attacking each other, are fools or fill up their post counts with incompetent comments, did you really use my post to state your position?

I guess that I don't like it. And it looks to me that I'm not wanted. I will delete my account.

Edit: removed emo, whiny stuff that says a lot about this poster's mental age and his overall grasp of the reality.

I wish you well to all of you. Thank you Dave for all the hard work, thank you all the forum members for your time and energy that you put in this forum.

I feel that for me it's time to part ways.
Edit: disregard that. I didn't had my coffee.

Happy holidays to all,
Dan

As I have not seen the post, I can't comment.

Oops, sorry Dan, I wasn't at all referring to you or your post, it was a general statement to everyone to just quit the personal attacks.
I simply used your post as springboard for bringing up the issue, sorry if you got the impression I was replying to you.
Please don't leave.

Dave.

The ignore button on eevblog does well.  But I use adblock and script blockers on Firefox to eliminate 99% of offending posts everywhere on the Internet.

With the above, you can do something for yourself now and solve of the problem without the sysop, its applicable to the whole Internet, not just eevblog, so it works better.

I don't know if it works for IE or Chrome.

Works on Chrome...  ;D.

So does the ignore button. I have had to use that even in the most civil of forums as some people just can't help themselves. If it destroys some of the signal along with the noise its a price I'm willing to pay.

As an asperger/aspie, (yes i do have the diagnose), i have learnt that nice does it,   that being polite brings me and those around me closer to a better world, that polite is the most commen accepted way of behaviour, that hurting people hurts yourself, that you can disagree without that being hostile and loose friends, that i need friends, if you don't have friends don't blame others, being good is way better than bad.. helping people is a way to get help yourself the day you need it.. and so on..

So in this light, i simply cant understand the behaviour from some on this forum!

I don't metion names..

But as always.. peace and love.. stay together, not appart!

Dear Dan:

--Again I agree with our gracious host. I would not include you in any list of PNG "Persona Non Grata" individuals. You, Sir, when you disagree, disagree agreeably. You never make it seem personal. Please do not depart.

--As for Frick, Frack, Fudd and Frump (the new one); the message was for you. The writing is on the wall. Mene mene tekel upharzin.

--Here's hoping that Sandy Claws the Holiday Crab leaves everyone a new widget, gadget or bit o' kit.

I've just come across this (I've not been too active lately). I did edit or remove a post by BravoV because it just nasty visciousness aimed at Kiriakos and I think it was in response to a report but he had possibly already apologized for it, still it took nothing away from the discussion that was supposed to be happening instead of the mud fight of insults. I hope that does not turn you off the forum, As Dave has recently said some active control of the nature of posts may be required where people fail to see the difference between a civilized dispute and unnecessary nastiness just because this is the internet and we can pretend it never happened.

thank you Dave, as above yes i removed or edited out undue nastiness that added nothing to the topic, no useful material if any was removed.

I think a previous topic has been split into the original and a new topic (this one) so that things don't get mixed up
