Holodeck or Multi-plane video display 3D concept.
« on: October 10, 2019, 10:43:05 am »
why has no one developed multi-plane parallax or hologram video displays?
the concept of multi-plane video display
uses a LCD type video Display on its background
however it has a transparent glass foreground display matrix
made up of a liquid crystal shutter matrix behind a RGB led glare matrix grid.
this transparent foreground display can block out the background display
when its pixels are activated. giveing the video display both foreground
and background screens set apart by 10% of its width.  or the display is 10% deep as it is wide.
multi-plane 3D or two multi-plane maybe an alternative to 3D as no goggles or glasses are needed.
useing its deep or fat video display screen or display box.
key to this display technology working is the concept of an RGB LED pixel glare matrix grid.
and a liquid crystal matrix grid shutter set in to a foreground glass.
this lets the foreground display become invisible when its black liquid crystal pixel shutter
and its LED pixel glare matrix are off.
the concept uses two video inputs  foreground and background.
the foreground video has a transparency level in its video
the video display or TV set is deeper or fatter then a non Multi-plane video display.
recording Multi-plane video requires the separation of the foreground video from the background video.
this can be accomplished with video game engines.

in the concept-
background is a standard liquid crystal video display
and can display standard non Multi-plane video.
in the concept-
foreground glass display is made up of a transparent LED pixel glare matrix
and a block-out liquid crystal shutter matrix that is transparent when off.
the key is the transparency level when the foreground image pixels are off.
and that the pixel glare will cover gaps between image pixels when on.

I saw a XRay machine once which had a LCD display that had multiple LCD layers for 3D.

So they definitely do exist.

I stand corrected.  this is it  :-+
the brightness, saturation, contrast needs some  :-/O
however the size I had in mind is something more like 40 inch or 100cm.
a standard 4K television display or the next big thing, when it becomes affordable.

-update
looking at the yt video review of this holographic display
resolution high definition is divided by 45 planes.
so one plane in non 3D is low 480p resolution or 360p video.  :o  :--

if Looking Glass type Holographic Displays are to go mainstream.
then 8K or 48Mbps bandwidths are needed just to get 1080p high definition in Holographic 3D.  :scared:
...and that's allowing for video compassion,
before considering the weight of any solid block type holographic display the size of a standard television.

-update
- if anyone can design a better mousetrap?.
a final word on this from me.
a stylized 2 or 4 plane parallax or holographic x plane display maybe viable in the not too distant future?
using 4K data feeds. particularly if any unwanted inter-plane reflections can be eliminated.
in an air cavity? type display case. a requirement for most low weight mass production consumer products.
particularly gaming or CGI stylized video content on a television or room sized display.
however with the ability to also show regular single plane HD content too.

Multi-layer 3-D LCD displays have been very popular in slot machines for several years. They even use eye-tracking to adjust the parallax in real time, and have motion and gesture tracking to allow manipulating 3-D objects "in space". There is a lot of innovation in gambling machines since price isn't an obstacle, and giving the players something new and exciting increases revenue.

Hopefully, the display is done a lot better than their website - it completely buries my i7-8K which only manages to show the video by skipping 4 seconds-worth at a time. Remove the terribly-coded website and it plays just fine.

Perfectly smooth and uses just 3% CPU here on Chrome.

Waterfox here. YMMV and no doubt if one uses the same browser as the devs it probably seems fine.
