Hour of Code
« on: December 09, 2015, 03:04:16 am »
Hi everyone,

I was pleasantly surprised by my 8 year old daughter who brought home a "certificate" for participating in this event at her school called "Hour of code". Has anyone heard of this before? I'm happy the kids are getting at least some exposure to this, and maybe get some electronics too.

I asked her what she did. Apparently she played some game like Minecraft where she had to instruct some sprite to move and turn a certain way to achieve some objective like chopping down some trees and building a house. Reminds me of Turtle, or like Scratch on RasPi (which my girls have already played with).

I hope they let me share with them the fun of programming and basic electronics. They are at an age (6 and 8 ) which should be fine to start. My 3 year old needs a few more years. :)

That's cool, it's like logo with minecraft

The blocks are very functional based which is a good concept for next generation programmers.
