I'm just wondering how people are finding digikey/mouser due dates for new stock due to arrive.

If it says "1000 due/expected on x date" how likely are 1000 to actually arrive around that date (+/- a week or 2)

Currently my experience is that a new arrive date arrives around the time the old arrive date, arrives.

Good to know,  i was wondering if i should order/pre-pay now to secure them.

But sounds like it's better to keep options open and just order if/when they are actually in stock.

My experience is that they are pretty worthless at the moment

My experience is they're accurate to within 1-2 weeks, but that was about 6 months ago when we last received scheduled orders.  No idea now.

I've had mixed results with the due dates on Mouser and Digikey.

I don't know if the quantity indicated for a particular date takes whatever back orders they already have into account.

I have no guaranteed way of obtaining a particular part, however I would note that a few items I wanted came back into stock before the due date, but only like a few 100's or 1000 of them, like they found some behind the couch. All promptly swept up in a day or two.

If you're able to find a few different manufacturers of the part, I'd be signing up for notifications on each site and be ready to scoop up what you need.

FWIW, I know firsthand of some large vendors (like an FPGA company that starts with X) that are charging an "expedite fee" aka "skip to the front of the queue fee" if you contact the right people to get your parts, and I presume that this basically subtracts stock from the distributors orders before they get it. With that sort of nonsense going on, it's hard to trust the distributor dates for high demand items (through no fault of their own).

I have also experienced the random, "found behind the couch" delivery too.

A similar 'X' FPGA company who has just been gobbled up by a certain large three-letter acronym firm told us that the expedite fee has no guarantee attached to it.  It could move you to the front of the queue, but it might not.
