It varies greatly with use and diameter. I have a 0.5mm 500g 60/40 spool that is going on for 15+ years but most of the soldering I did was at work during this time. Only in the past 5~7 years I did soldering at home in a more intensive way.

If you solder SMD the use is lighter and it will last longer that if you do chassis and larger components, wires, etc.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Sounds like a 'how long is a piece of string' question.
Not easy, not hard, just need to be incentivised.

A 454g roll lasts many years for me.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

Long enough to not justify cheaping out and buying the cheapest on ebay.
I use 1 mm for most work and 0.5 mm for finer stuff. The 1 mm seems to be used up in about a year, the 0.5 mm lasts much longer.
I do both SMD and THT, solder almost daily.

^This.

Do not cheap out.
I have various thicknesses in 500g rolls - all of them have a little silver as well.
This increases cost, but improves flow.
I usually get many years out of a roll.
Hobbyist level stuff. A couple of hours each weekend.
Where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?
