How to find Bureau Veritas reports to the Machinery directive
(1/1)
Tomorokoshi:
I am trying to look up CE reports by VERITAS (Bureau Veritas?) to the Machinery directive 2006/42/CE.

I can't find anything that appears to be a searchable database. I've looked reports up on Intertek, etc. without any problem. All I can find are slick sales resources.
ebastler:
You mean test reports (conformity assessments) for CE markings according to the machinery directive? Why would these be public, whether in a searchable database or elsewhere? Those reports are provided to the respective client only, I think.

Could you please share a link to the Intertek reports you referred to? That might help to clarify what you are looking for.

Yes, the full test reports are not something I would expect. However, I have at least encountered information referring to the product. See the Intertek example below.

In this case, the manufacturer lists a VERITAS report number indicating CE approval to the directive. However, I can't even validate the existence of the report. I can't find a similar search tool associated with VERITAS / Bureau Veritas / etc. (Are they they same thing?)

For instance, here are the results for a random Tektronix product to 61010:

I think the "ETL-EU mark" is an Intertek offering only -- an optional end-user-facing proof that Intertek has tested a product: https://www.intertek.com/marks/etleu/

The CE regulations do not require a manufacturerer to provide such a proof to their customers. (Heck, they don't even require testing by an external test lab if you have the expertise in house.) Manufacturers just need to have documentation on file which shows that they assessed CE compliance with due diligence, or had it assessed by a 3rd party. They may need to show this to the authorities if a compliance issue should become known.

If you want proof of such diligence from a supplier before buying their product, you can always ask them. If you are a big-enough customer, they will probably oblige; otherwise, probably not...
