By what means? What are you known for? (other than just being "famous") What unique and interesting content does the channel provide? With that in mind, if you want to make money from a YT channel, I would first think about how you can efficiently make interesting content for a channel that is worth watching, attracts a large enough audience after e.g. 1 year of effort, and is sustainable for you to do combined with work, family, other hobbies and the hours you got to spend. --- End quote --- This is actually easier with electronics, for the following reasons: 1- electronics people don't need special effects on video = shoot + render is enough = very simple video works perfectly. 2- electronics is kinda niche so you won't get too much competition except for fellow electronics engineers, unlike for example prank channels. 3- viewers don't expect more from you, just the regular stuff. However, pranks have to get bigger, general youtubers must invent something new each now and then to keep viewers interested. 4- you can make what is already there and still get audience without copyright stuff, like millions of arduino tutorials. 5- you could get loyal fans easier than general channels. 6- it is a hobby so the channel won't cost you extra money, since that money is for the hobby itself. unlike if you wanna perform a prank and you buy tons of stuff then they became useless. that is my opinion. best regards, |

EEVblog content has to be predominantly long-tail, meaning the audience is narrow but the content stays relevant practically forever. Clicks and views largely depend on the size of the catalog, and creating more content is an investment that yields future income. This is different from say reviews of the latest phones and gadgets, which stay relevant for a few months, then become noise as the models reviewed are no longer of much interest. Games is even more extreme, as you want to review and play them before they're released, to be part of the hype train. Once released they fall off the radar and viewership vanishes. For the kind of content Dave creates it's also not as much about entertainment and personality as it is about talking on a technical level. I'd suggest if you think you want to make money as a content creator you first need to figure out who you are and who you're targeting, what they will watch, and what they want from you. |

In order to make money on YT (and Google for that matter), you had better have an online record that aligns properly with certain ideologies. I doubt there are many or any that oppose that ideology that are even allowed to monetize unless they have remained extremely neutral online. Most who do oppose that ideology have been banned or censored. |

It is three years old and was resurrected earlier today by a spammer, whose post the moderators have thankfully removed in the meantime. Before the thread now drifts into "ideology" discussions, why don't we let it quietly fade away again? |

EEVBlog is a great example of a successful YouTube channel, and I'm curious to know more about how they make money. |
