| How to record low frequency mechanical wave, such like noise of pump? |

| youta556:
When My neighbor use water pump, I feel low frequency noise in room. I think the noise come from sound wave, maybe add some resonance but I cannot feel vibration when I touch wall. I try to talk with neighbor, before that I would like to record the noise as proof. I have questions as below: 1.How to distinguish the noise,is that sound wave or resonance? 2.As I have only iphone and mono sound recorder,is that possible to record low frequency noise? Thanks in advance. |

Find a spectrum analyzer app for your phone. It might identify the frequency you are sensing. |

You need to record the output of an accelerometer. Phyphox on your phone might work well enough. Good for the price... |

I would suggest that you talk to your neighbor right away. Explain the situation, ask them to turn on the pump and come over to your place for a moment. Listening to the noise "live" will be the only way to get a perspective how noticeable and potentially annoying it is. |
