That reminds me of the time when I started my first job. Users had to print WordPerfect documents to a file, transfer the file to a µVax via Kermit, login to the µVax and finally issued a DCL command to really send the file to a laser printer. And users were more happy than today !

I was curious to know what the mystery software transmission was, so I copied the YouTube audio stream onto a cassette, then loaded it into my BBC. It is a short programme for a competition. I expect you would have had to watch the whole TV programme to make sense of it.

I really enjoyed that video. We had nothing like that on TV here in southern California at that time, at least not that I knew about.
I also noticed that the female presenter, while mentioning several personal computers at that time, did not mention the Atari.

Pah! When I were a lad, we had to use an acoustic coupler, 300bps on a good day, and a daisy wheel terminal. That was after we'd hacked our programs paper tape on a 50 baud Creed teleprinter.

The only surviving technology shown is the bloody BT Plug.  Those things are still the scourge of UK shops who setup here and think we are all the same country.  A legacy from the days of BT rolling their own (System X exchanges) and not being compatible with the rest of the world.

BTW. Is that an Apple 2 behind the BBC, is is hard to tell watching on a phone.

Begin born in 2000...  I never had to experience this. for the good, I guess..
My family first desktop PC was some Pentium I think running Windows XP. used it mostly for random pages (I still could not read well at the the time, especially English and most of the stuff I found was written in English), and games (like GTA:VC, GTA:SA and mario.. good games even today).

I think I was born in quite a good year. not too early that I had to work be stuck with annoying old technology and no google for school work and especially wars but not too late that I was spoiled brat playing on my smartphone all the time.
My brother is currently 6 I think. his day is mostly playing minecraft or something and watch videos about games. very little interest in electronics. in his age I was quite interested in electronics and did projects with my dad. it could be that later he will also do electronics but maybe he just doesn't have the knuck and will do something else for the rest of the life.

But you know what they say.. every generation thinks the generation after them is worse for some reasons. that's just how it is.
