How to stop Aliexpress marketing emails?
« on: July 12, 2022, 04:48:53 pm »
Hi,
I am getting an unwanted email from aliexpress each day.
On my account, there is no way to turn them off, there is no "unsubscribe" button on the email, and there is no "contact" page on aliexpress.
Do you know how to stop this?

We have a very similar problem here in the forum with someone starting an inordinate amount of threads, for which they seem unable to do their own research, or otherwise improve their understanding of engineering as the years roll by ;)

Where do we 'unsubscribe'?

I use Aliexpress a lot and have not gotten a single marketing email from them. Can you show an example of such email?

Simple. For EACH e-commerce site you use, create a forwarding email address to your primary inbox. When the account is compromised, you just change the forward email on the offending site account to a new one. And you will know where you got spammed. Your ISP should have this feature. If not, buy a domain name.

I have gotten those Ali commercials e-mails too.
But there was an unsubscribe in the bottom.

Uh really? Maybe we have a different definition of marketing?

I get a lot of emails from Aliexpress. What I've noticed though is that the more you visited Aliexpress and the more emails you got. If you stop visiting/ordering from it for a while, the emails will stop. So, this is annoying but not nearly as annoying as many other sites.

I don't get any emails from Aliexpress, really. Sometimes a seller might send a message, and I get notification of that. It is possible that my spam filter deletes most of it. I have it set up so that emails with score <10 go into spam, the rest is just deleted. But I have not marked any of them as spam, so I don't know if the filter would be that harsh.

The spam filter thing may very well be the reason.
That said, I only get emails from Aliexpress when I very recently visited it. Also, if you put some items in the cart for later, it will send you a reminder email that you have items in your cart and may want to finalize your order. That's not excessively annoying, just a bit pushy. Otherwise, it will occasionally send an email of "items you may like".
But there may be a way of stopping those mails actually, as someone said here, I'll have a look. I honestly never found Aliexpress emails to be so numerous or annoying that I would bother.

I never get them as well.

But I see an option under Account -> Setting -> Activate email notifications
So maybe its related to that.
Profile -> Modify profile -> Look and Layout ->  Don't show users' signatures
