How to Test Saft 14250s (LiSoCl2) Batteries?

(1/2) > >>

TPerk100:
I use about 25 SAFT LSG 14250s in my security system. Would like to be able to test these batteries somehow. Would prefer a piece of test equipment but can build tester if necessary…and I have plans etc.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Test it how, for what? Remaining capacity? State of health? Remaining shelf life?

Thanks for your reply,

subscribe, as voltage nearly just tells you its over. :)

Remaining Capacity: Load it with 8.5mA (for practical reasons this is usually just resistor) and measure voltage a few seconds later.

State of Health: This can be accomplished a few ways. I typically just measure the short circuit current of the cell, given the ~5 Ohm ESR of the cell, this could be in the order of 500mA-1A . Open circuit voltage also helps determining it. Then calculate the ESR and that will give you a good indication on this.
