Title: Huawei ban updates
Post by: blueskull on June 29, 2019, 07:38:21 am
So I stayed up late for G20 meeting between Trump and Xi, and here's a very brief summary on Huawei issue to inform the fellow engineers here.

I do not want to start a political debate, so please LOCK the thread right away, mods.

1. Huawei is still limited from selling to US.
2. Huawei will be lifted from entity list. Huawei will be lifted from importing instruments, not parts. Whether to remove it from entity list depends on an upcoming meeting the next week.
3. US will not add new tariffs to China.
4. US will issue new green card offerings to Chinese students.
5. China will resume import agricultural products from US.
6. China will keep decreasing import tariff as promised as part of WTO.
7. Meng's extradition was not discussed.
8. HK's recent political issues were not mentioned, instead, it was brought up to Xi by Abe.
9. US's one China policy remains, but will keep selling weapons to Taiwan.

All of this trade war/tariff/ban stuff is retarded, but it's still good to keep infrastructure owned by companies based in the same state. I don't even like the fact that the UK power grid has been sold off to the French. Fair enough, at least the UK have better relations and more in common with them, than the Chinese but it still isn't good.
