I bought a new car stereo just for the Amp Hour!
« on: April 08, 2015, 09:32:59 am »
Here in Dubai it would be fair to say that local radio might be a bit 'lacking'.

I started listening to the Amp Hour show in the car but ridiculously, my factory stereo wants to restart the mp3 from the beginning every time I switch off the ignition, and then it's a huge ball-ache to skip through the file to pick up where I left off  |O

So now I have one of those Android 4.2 units (made for my car model) which has wifi. I just drag and dropped a whole folder of Amp Hour to the car wirelessly.

And I thought that was a cool story bro.

:)

Is there an archive for TAA or do we have to download each one in turn do you know?

A week or so ago I tried listening to TAA when travelling to my assembler, about a 2.5 hour round trip. I listened to the bumper Chuck Peddle episode. I'd not downloaded it, I just streamed it over 4G and into the factory fitted car stereo via Bluetooth. Amazingly, it worked perfectly, no drop out at all, but it looked like it buffered a long way ahead.

This was through an Iphone 6 plus. You have to do some gesture jiggery pokery to use the streaming UI so you can operate the controls. Once that was done the pause/play controls operated through the car's touch screen.

When I got out of the car and then back in, even though I'd taken the phone with me out of BT range three times on my journey, it started off automatically from where it left off.

I don't do many longish car journeys, but I found TAA to be good company.
