--- Quote from: eti on December 14, 2022, 10:44:59 am ---You can’t have much of a life if you concern yourself SO much with one single person. You’re very immature kiddo. --- End quote --- No, you’re the immature brat who cannot adhere to the rules and thinks your mental state entitles you to do so. (I don’t know, or care, how old you are. One can be an immature brat at any age.) And don’t presume to know how much I do or don’t “concern” myself with you. I came across your dumb thread by chance, so I called you out on it. |

--- Quote from: tom66 on December 14, 2022, 10:47:27 am ---Here's the fun thing eti: you don't have to use one of these phones. You don't have to spend £1,200 on a phone. Nobody is compelling you to do so. If you want the bare minimum phone, a £20 or so phone can be acquired from most good online websites, which will ONLY do phone calls and texts. Other people clearly enjoy and appreciate these devices, so why not let them live their lives? It would be very authoritarian - something you have rallied against - to tell people what they can do with their devices, when that behaviour really hurts no one. --- End quote --- Another one …. <whoooooosh!> It’s not accusational. Try reading it from a perspective from where it was written; the modern net and phones have brainwashed the masses into thinking they can’t be without them for anything, ever. As long as people wilfully take this is a personal accusation is as long as they’ll miss the point. |

--- Quote from: eti on December 14, 2022, 10:40:17 am ---To the thread: this is NOT “a rant”, this is an expressive disdain for modern phones. … My thread is to express disdain for these modern “smartphone” ways and for others to express similar sentimental memories of times long gone. --- End quote --- That is literally what a rant is: OED defines ranting as to “speak or shout at length in a wild, impassioned way”. Your post is a textbook example of a rant. --- Quote from: eti on December 14, 2022, 10:40:17 am ---Ignore the provocative little chap, he always does this. --- End quote --- Its 100% a reaction. You are the one posting provocative things out of the blue, repeatedly. --- Quote from: eti on December 14, 2022, 10:51:32 am --- --- Quote from: tom66 on December 14, 2022, 10:47:27 am ---Here's the fun thing eti: you don't have to use one of these phones. But you certainly missed his. |

:-+ Regarding the second most active poster in this thread: He is an American in disguise, possible even a Californian at that, and he used to work at Apple. Just so you know ;) --- Quote from: tom66 on December 14, 2022, 10:47:27 am ---Here's the fun thing eti: you don't have to use one of these phones. You don't have to spend £1,200 on a phone. Obviously the sheep made their own choices, but you can't ignore the other side of the coin, which is basically a bunch of fat Americans profiting from self-destructive stupidity, and proud of it. It's also not entirely fair to say that no one forces you to use these phones. Alarmingly increasing amount of business these days demands that you install their "apps" to work. That being said, I will surely keep using my Nokia 3310 till it kicks the bucket or THEY shut down 2G. |
