Most of them only did that when they weren't getting a valid signal, I did have a CGA monitor on my first PC that made an awful whine though, it comes from the horizontal deflection. Once you are around 35 years old it is irrelevant because you can't hear it anymore.

This has been replaced by buck / boost converters with to low frequencies or other resonances.  :-DD

Adjust the brightness on a FNIRSI 1013D and you get a beeping sound because the PWM carrier frequency is ~833Hz.
My >10 old Dell 24 inch monitor also makes a humming sound due to this.

It looks like there is a new whiner in town. Check out some of bigfoot22 his posts.

He even thinks airplanes should never have been made.  :palm:

P.S. I know I can whine too  >:D

Most CRTs bothered me.  It was the same frequency as the ringing in my ears and I still 'hear' that despite being over 35.

I've had a few converters that made noise.  The worst was a boost module from one of those maker shops.  When I exceeded its limits, it would squeel.  Still not as annoying as CRT though.
