I remember it, especially on TV sets (much less so on computer displays) regardless of input signal. |

Let's rant about Android. ;D Recently we had our nationwide alert day for testing sirens and other ways of alerting the public. This time the test included cell broadcast which is an old standard in the mobile network specs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_Broadcast), and also used in some countries for years. Simply put, it's a text message to all phones sent by the base station. If you have an Android phone you need to check several settings hidden below several layers of menus to make sure that your phone will accept cell broadcast messages - not every phone has sensible default settings (fail #1). Now something bad happens and you receive a public alert via cell broadcast. Your phone is supposed to play a loud alarm sound to get your attention and to show you the alert. In reality some phones stay silent for whatever reason (fail #2). In case your phone plays the loud sound it's quite likely that you'll confirm the alarm sound to shut it off - something most users are trained to do by apps. Oops, after confirming the alarm sound the alert message is gone too (fail #3). Where can I retrieve the alert to read it? Again, down the rabbit hole through several layers of menus in the settings app you'll find a history of alert messages. Very intuitive, especially if you're in a hurry! Fail #4. |

But while that is an explanation for my behavior it is not an excuse for it. --- End quote --- Thanks for the explanation and apology. Parkinson, that for sure is a bitch, and I sympathize with you. I know someone with Parkinson's but he is in his seventies and has a not so aggressive form of it, but still shit, like any other chronic disease. I myself suffer from Fibromyalgia which also sucks. Hang in there and try to keep up the good spirit. |

But while that is an explanation for my behavior it is not an excuse for it. I actually am very upset that I've smashed phones in the past and feel a great loss whenever it happens. [...] A test for Parkinsons is up next on the schedule. [...] But a small trace of gluten on a food that I've eaten can make me have mood swings a roughly week after ingesting it. --- End quote --- Thanks for sharing and I'm sorry to hear that. I bet that long response time made it difficult to determine gluten was a problem. I'd count that as a win against a tough problem. If your upcomming testing involves electronics, I think people here would be interested to hear about it. I will be. This has been implied already but I'll reitterate, you can turn off notifications or atleast change their sounds. I recently dialed mine back and set up more custom sounds and I wish I did it sooner. It's much less annoying now. |

When they have a signal the frequency seems to shift a bit so it's less audible. I have quite a few CRT monitors around here so next time I pull one out I'll do some testing with the audio spectrum app on my phone. |
