--- Quote from: Kasper on December 15, 2022, 11:14:26 pm --- I get that ticketmaster is terrible. But, if the purpose of the app was to display a barcode, you could have screenshot the barcode then print that out, no? Or would it not show you the barcode ahead of time. --- End quote --- I'm guessing the purpose of the app was to stop people from printing out and selling 20 copies of 1 ticket. Not sure how they stop people from doing a similar crime with screenshots in their phones. This is of course aside from the bunch of other reasons big business wants their app in your phone. [/quote] Printed from home tickets: at venues here in Chicago, they scan the QR code when you enter. Due to a mixup once, I got scanned twice and the scanning app was smart enough to report that it had already been scanned. |

Just stops their victims from getting to use their fake tickets. |

Print at home tickets are already uniquely coded, once it has been scanned any other copies of the same code are void. |

Somehow, this defeats counterfeiting of tickets. I guess the problem was that the person who copied a ticket would get to the door before the legitimate purchaser. It just mekes everything more complicated. Jon |

--- Quote from: Kasper on December 15, 2022, 11:14:26 pm ---Yes, I've had eye exams, probably should have had more attention or at least requested more attention to sort this out decades ago but my attempts never seemed to yield any results. I've found getting fresh air, exercise and eating healthy help more than any healthcare professional have. An office career was probably not the smartest choice for me. --- End quote --- OK and if you get fresh air, exercise, eat healthy, THEN read a book for 30min, you'd still get the same headache? --- Quote from: jmelson on December 16, 2022, 12:57:07 am ---No, apparently they regenerate the bar codes every 5 minutes, and only the freshest ones will be accepted at the door. Although if cell phones didn't exist they'd probably find some equally stupid solution to the "problem" that they don't get a cut of ticket resales. |
