Does anyone know if Dave is overloaded with packages waiting to be "taken apart" for the Video Blog. I have an electronics device I want to send him. :)
-
Wrap it up in pink paper with 'hello kitty' labels attached, should get his attention.

Why don't you ask him directly ?
David.

Ah I see - he likes pretty things - soft things? It's OK for a man to feel pretty sometimes. ;)

Don't forget a set of 7 segment displays and a back counter using logic gates, they will surely appreciate your skills.

Yes, I have about a dozen, many of which (as I know what they are) could have their own separate video.
But send any, just don't expect me to get around to it any time soon!

Will do. I have all the time in the world to wait for the tear down. ;)

How about a machine that is it's own package and opens itself? That might be worth a video. No sudden moves though. The thing would be creepy enough without.
-
Package sent - teaser pic attached!

Is that a walkie-talkie or what?
-
looks a little like a Satphone

Nope! :P

No! :)

Pocket spectrum analyzer or GPS? The antenna looks like a full-wave antenna in the 900MHz-2.4GHz range to me.
-
Part of a telemetry system?

Negative.
Part of a telemetry system?
No sir. :)

Is it a hello kitty lollipop with extra sturdy stick and convenient velcro packaging?
-
Some sort of sniffer? Gas detector?

Some sort of sniffer? Gas detector?
Good guesses, but no ...
Eventually someone will guess it if we keep going. The post office said it would take a week to get down under (I don't believe them), but Dave said he's already got a backlog. I don't want to spoil it for everyone. :)

Cell signal blocker.

It''s even easier than that with Dave... just stamp a "Made in Germany" label on the box :-DD

I believe it is a fruit quality tester... here you see it being used on an Orange.
The black thingy on top is forcefully thrust into the fruit, i.e. impaled upon it, and the meter will give a quality reading.
Don't buy the fruit if it's below 50 FruityHertz.
If you ever go to the supermarket and see large holes in the fruits, then you know someone has been testing the fruit there.
On this particular orange, someone painted a XYZ coordinate system, probably they didn't know which way was up so they needed some help. You must always orient the fruit tester correctly, or the readings will be off.
I'm sure Dave will be happy to receive it from you, and after the teardown will always enjoy better fruit.

I have a slightly used Worldspace receiver that Will be coming to parts sometime soon, as the RF end is dead.

What's so special about rectal probe?
-
Well, I know he's got it 'cause I've seen the box in the stack on the last mailbag video. We'll have to be patient yill he gets to it. :)

hahahahaha. I actually laughed

Cell phone jammer?
-
IANAH (I am not a Ham).
Antenna is about 5 inches long, assuming 1/4 wave that gives 590Mhz. Or 1/2 wave that gives 1.18GHz.
A quick look at FCC allocations suggests we get either "TV Broadcast" or "Aeronautical Radionavigation". Neither is too likely. Of course I could be a bit off on my 'measurements' ... 915MHz ISM isn't too far off, neither is 608-614 "Land Mobile/Radioastronomy".
Given all that ... its a pocket Arecibo!
-
Valiant and very intelligent attempts to guess it - but all wrong.
I'd be tempted to pull it a little of it out of the case and take another pic - but it's in Australia at the moment. :)

Metal detector/body scanner for security.
-
It's a shovel, which should result in the shortest tear-down video ever.

Correct. I didn't want to say until he opened the package, which he did in the latest mailbag video.
Congratulation for a correct guess. :-+
