| I have the feeling that the whole trade war starts from a pile of nonsense. |

The Western education system produces a hell of a lot of people who can do the latter. I know a few people who know where the Panama canal is and the precise dimensions and a million other facts yet would fatally stab themselves somewhere with a butter knife trying to assemble a simple flat-pack furniture item. There's always dumbasses. There's always intelligent people. The fight. Unfortunately intelligence doesn't mean that the people are good. That's where it falls down. --- End quote --- People confuse intelligence with education. People assume i have a degree because i can get stuff done. i have met plenty of degree holders that cannot apply their knowledge "creatively" enough. Creative means intelligent. My current university course has not tught me anything of any practical value but my official worth will be based on that worthless qualification, not the fact that I can do my job regardless. As you probably know in the UK university is just another extension of the class system. |

--- Quote from: Miti on June 02, 2019, 05:30:36 pm --- I read a very interesting thing somewhere and I quote: "Hard times create strong people, strong people create good times, good times create dumb people, dumb people create hard times." And the cycle goes forever. --- End quote --- Nailed it in one! This is why we have to watch ourselves. |

What you call general knowledge I call opening the eyes and minds. |

Our genetic makeup equips us with a lot of drones. What else are you doing to do with them? That's how we self-organised as a species. This isn't some massive conspiracy of power. |

The education system is more and more becoming work training for the factories. During medieval times education was something reserved for priests and was valued in itself, today we see it as a tool for increasing productivity. So public schools teach less and less "useless" knowledge, like economics or philosophy. |
