| I have the feeling that the whole trade war starts from a pile of nonsense. |

They’re trying to sell us out to the US. Our healthcare is worth a lot of money and the horrible health that drives it is also good business. |

--- Quote from: apis on June 02, 2019, 06:27:23 pm ---Imagine a mini world that only have bread as a commodity. There workers get paid a certain amount which lets them buy enough bread that they stay healthy. Now double the salary of everyone and people will be able to buy twice as much bread, but the amount of bread produced is the same so what happens is that the bread prices double. (What happened to the money??) --- End quote --- You can eat only so much bread. If the economy can produce more bread than is needed (even by a little), then the bread price will go down because of the competition between bread-makers. So, the money is going to accumulate. Everyone will have lots of money and will think they're rich. This can go on indefinitely until the capacity to produce bread falls below the demand levels. At that point, the inflation turns on, and everyone quickly recognizes that they're still poor :) |

At the same time some things have gotten better, like healthcare, but that is because the technology and medical knowledge has improved. The slice of the pie that goes to ordinary people is smaller than it was during the french revolution now. |

Yes. Our healthcare system is a government backed cashcow and yea, when people are buying cheap junk food like 12 burgers for £1. What they don't tell you is that plenty of it is already privatised and Richard Brason made himself £2M of our tax money just for throwing a strop over not getting a contract that he was outbid on. |

But the standard of living masks the problem of the widening gap. And the worlds rich fly to davos in private jets to discuss the issues of our time like poverty, oh the irony. |
