@apis: Can you provide a paper/source for the "slice of pie is less than it was for people during french revolution"? |

--- Quote from: apis on June 02, 2019, 08:34:25 pm ---Of course, it can even be the same person as before who own the foreign bread maker, but in the other country he has to pay less to the workers so it's cheaper to produce it there. By shutting down companies in the first country and moving production to another he can increase his profit. --- End quote --- But if we start a trade war with that foreign country and stop the imports, his plan will not work out. Meanwhile, since the domestic production capacity has diminished below the demand levels, there's nothing to hold prices down. As we already know, in this case, the inflation comes quickly and wipes out all the extra money in a blink of an eye. |
| Simon:

When I googled it now the best I could find was the attached picture that in turn mention their sources. I don't have time to look more now. It's not so hard to check out the wealth inequality now and then and make the synthesis yourself if you're curious. If you (or someone) find a better source please share it. Edit found this now: I believe it's from this book: https://press.princeton.edu/titles/10670.html |
| Simon:
Fact is we have massive inequality now. The ways the systems now and then worked is different so it makes no difference. |
