| I have the feeling that the whole trade war starts from a pile of nonsense. |

I really wish some certain government agencies can start making statements with citations and data points backing them, instead of making people feeling like they are pulling results out of their asses. --- Quote from: Simon on June 04, 2019, 06:39:25 am ---The inequality hurts the market but the rich prefer to ignore this. Give a rich person £100'000 and what will they do with it? Bank it alonside thei millions and put another notch in the bedpost (more like a scratch actually) but give a "poor" person 100'000 and they will likely go out and spend a portion of that. So the government colects VAT and income tax from the businesses where they spend the money and the economy has money going into it so people can have jobs etc. Same as my explanation about where I buy my food. When i could afford it I spent more on food in shops that hired more people and paid them better. Now I shop in a shop that is cheap with often one member of staff running the only till in the shop and also have to sort out problems with the self checkout tills so I now put in less into the economy because I have less to put in. --- End quote --- This feels like an education problem to me. Poor is taught to stay poor, and rich is taught to get richer. None knows better and the social classes becomes entrenched. --- Quote from: Simon on June 04, 2019, 06:39:25 am ---The rich however fail to see this and want their cake and to eat it. They want the poor poor but then they want to be able to sell their shit to the poor to make more money off them whilst blaming them for all the problems so that the middle income earners get scared of being poor and also think badly of the poor aspiring to be more likee the rich whilst not realising that they are being taken for a ride too! --- End quote --- Well we do have a middle class pinch going on. The lucky few are boosted up to the haute bourgeoisie class and most are stomped down into the poor. Excessive inequality hurts society stability, as it fractures the society into clearly divided, sharply contrasting classes. It is only time when the oppressed takes up either Bolshevism or Fascism, hopefully not both, depending on the makeup of the classes, and riot. I don’t like a lack of inequality too as it makes the society stale and stifles innovation. |

No total equality does not work either. People need to be able to get on. But the obscene constrasts are of no help at all. |

It is somehow appropriate to compare economical equality to thermal entropy, if we think thermal energy as wealth. The global minimum of entropy - perfect inequality - is the Big Bang, and the global maximum of entropy - perfect equality - is heat death of the universe, neither of which is a pleasant state to be in. |
