I have the feeling that the whole trade war starts from a pile of nonsense.

Many people seem to need an enemy in order to make sense of the world.

We've seen this movie before.

Why dont you abstain from criticizm in the same way that you dont criticize your own state, just that in this case you would do it cause your actually nice and not because your, actual not so meritocratic, leaders would punish you.
Otherwise we can talk more frankly about your meritocratic system and its historic roots.

Let me put up a criticism to my own state here: if I deviate too far from what the state want me to think and say, it is a swift death to me. We still have punishable crimethink here, a mere thought and a slip of the tongue is enough to be penalized, and punishment for those starts at lifetime imprisonment and escalates to death very quickly.

That is the scary thing. It means that those people will always focus on negative emotions like hatred, envy or greed, and thus act dangerously and/or destructively.

I don't understand why China doesn't adopt human rights, at least the main parts of it, like abolishing the death penalty. The death penalty is just pointless cruelty imo and it provides Europe something to point to and criticise.

You don't understand that other countries are different and have different cultures?

And, Human Rights as defined by who?

America has the death penalty and tortures and kills. Why do we preach so much about Human Rights to China and not at all to America?

Your opinion is against the death penalty. Fine. Do you understand other people and other countries have different opinions? And that they are entitled to their own opinions?

Why should the one value not left up to sovereignty be support for free trade?
