I Made a Website for my projects
« on: May 31, 2021, 07:16:42 pm »
Hi

I have made a website where i want to post the projects that I have been working on.

There are only 2 projects for now.

Why!

I guess there might be something useful for someone, and if it can help others why keep for my self.

What do you guys think?
Is it just a waste of time?

I'm not the best communicator, but i try. :)

The site is: https://www.bosolberg.dk

Making your projects more accessible is never a waste of time. It is also sortof a hall of fame for yourself in the future. I think it's great!

Not a waste of time at all. I respect that you have made the effort. I want to but I haven't. Maybe you helped push me a little bit.

I have a few questions.

Why does your website use cookies?

Why can't I choose to not accept cookies?

I understand your concern.

I use WordPress hosted on one.com, The cookies is for the comments form, If you comment on the website and click "save my name...", it will put your information in a cookie.

and for the analytics plugin(not google), it just tells me how many visitors there has been on the site.

also the akismet plugin for anti-spam, They check if you are a known spammer.

I don't think i can add an Op-out option, because the site would not work then. (But i will look into it)

I figured it out. It should be GDPR compliant now.

It should now show you the cookies used, and the option to opt-out.

Not a waste of time looking at it as I wasn't put off or turned away at any moment and looks good to me.

I don't see no UI bloat or distractions (spammy fixed headers or widgets), dimming overlays, flashing or loading spinners.

The cookies notification seems fine and doesn't dim/interfere with the contents when active (so that's good) and the text and images seems sensibly sized but not oversized.

I find it looks quite nice compared to other Wordpress sites I have seen not long ago.

Hi...  All the information/options about 'Cookies' are in Non-English, where-as the pages/projects are in English.
I don't know if you can correct that?  I wouldn't know what options/buttons to click on??
Also, such 'Cookies' use info is normally at the bottom of the screen, so as not to interfere with the main top?
Are you able to re-position that, so it doesn't mess up the start of your page?
It may also help you to add some descriptions/info to the top of the main page, to tell people who you are, and
what it is all about. That will also help in regards to later Google search criteria, (and using other means!), for
people to find your site.  Keep going, and good luck!   :)
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!

Squarespace.com is a sponsor of about 150% of the videos I watch on youtube, from what I've heard it's a pretty good service. But if I'm not mistaken, their service is more of a create-a-design-and-host-it-with-them solution. So if you already have a working site that you just want some make-up for, I'm not sure squarespace is the right service.

EDIT: This message was a reply to a message that seems to have been deleted now, so disregard this.

Yeah, why not post your progress and any new things discovered (even if it's a known thing, already, as some folks have not encountered that idea).
Is there some kind of 'half-principal' or undeveloped / incomplete theory involved, that's going to be a good thing, for readers. In other words, as you develop your ideas there might be suggested some partial effect, you can't fully describe: That's OK; just mention you saw such and such, with some pattern you noticed, keeping readers informed what you have, so far.
Readers like the drama, your story doesn't have to be perfect / 100% completed.

At least you didn’t make a Facebook page, and then relentlessly pester your Facebook “friends” to “like my page” 👏

Anyone that does that to me, gets the request ignored. If I happen across your page and like it, that happens of my own free will.

Good, keep posting project there!   :-+

Another aspect is those can become useful not only to others, but to yourself self, too.  I mean, years later you will forget what you did in a given project, so you can google for what you posted and retrieve the docs for a given project.  Meanwhile many others may benefit, too.

Did you create your website for projects on WordPress or some other platform? A few days ago, I made a similar site on WP. Of course, I am not one of the WordPress experts, but my site turned out to be quite interesting and attractive from the point of view of the content creator. It can attract users. I hope for high traffic in the future. Are you planning to pay for domains within a year, or do you want to resell your website for projects to someone else? I've sold the websites I created several times. Sometimes I sell designs or just landing pages because I like to design more than layout. Working with pictures is more exciting for me.
