The only ones who didn't order the wrong package are people who didn't order enough components.
Same goes for putting part numbers in the BOM.

How lovely, an 0.8mm square leadless package.  If you are in a hard time-crunch, you could 'dead bug' it on a glue dot and hook it up with 38AWG magnet wire.  It would be a PITA, but just about practical for a one-off prototype.

Yes, we've all been there...

One of my latest was when I making a laptop FDD flat cable converter from 26 to 22 pins (different pitches) and I ordered exactly the opposite pin count/pitch. |O

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Once needed a reel of 0805 resistors, ordered a reel of 0201 size instead  |O

Well, it is better than ordering 0603 Metric instead of 0603 Imperial...

I often mess up SOD-x23 and SOT-x23 packages. Hate them with passion! :box:

Some how I made a NASA grade error with choosing a switch, in the sense of unit mixup. I wanted a panel mount thing to fit into a box (multi switch). I thought it would be the size of a silver dollar and it turned out to be about 1/4 of a fosters beer can.

This happens because you think simple component, loose tolerance, you can't fudge it. I must have thought metric = imperial.

Great switch though, just the box was too small.

LOL I did a similar mistake.  Except I had dimensions and everything so it's 100% my fault.  I pretty much grossly underestimated just how small 5mmx5mm is when you are trying to dead bug solder it.  Pretty much need a PCB with proper solder pads for something like that.  I'm sure someone that's very good at soldering could dead bug it but it was a little beyond my skillet lol.

And I always have a good laugh when idiots draw the wrong footprint, until I met this part.
Amazingly, it didn't blow up or short out the supply rail upon power on. I guess it has good DFI (design for idiots).
FYI, it's Bosch BNO055.

"Pin 1 II" ??  :D

"Pin 1 ID" in the datasheet.

Pin 1 is NC in the datasheet, so.. I assume the ID pad is NC as well but not really sure. Interesting choice, maybe it helps with pick and place bottom cameras?
