I want to use distributed computing to help a friend in need
« on: September 02, 2023, 01:46:47 pm »
I recently found out that a good friend of mine has cancer and her health insurance was less than helpful. See this link and the attached screenshot from her Facebook if you want to know more. https://www.gofundme.com/f/4qnbea-chemotherapy-costs?utm_campaign=m_pd+share-sheet&utm_content=undefined&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_term=undefined

I thought back to my Swagbucks mining days and figured that it could be the solution if scaled up. I gave up on it since the profitability is too low for me to continue development on the script, but if the development effort can be applied to many instances, then it would be worth it. I attached a zip of the script I used back then but it would need a lot of modification (or a complete rewrite) to work. I expect that a few hundred instances (each of which needs a unique IP address) would put a big dent in the problem and a thousand or two would completely solve it. Those who want to diversify the effort to other IP limited coins are welcome to.

I'm not asking for any share of the funds, my friend is the one who needs it.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.
