OT: Malcolm Young leaving AC/DC
« on: September 26, 2014, 03:44:05 pm »
Some "quite serious" undisclosed ailment. I'm guessing cancer, but I have no inside knowledge.  That to me would make sense because it might require ongoing treatment that touring would not afford.

He has short-term memory loss.
If he stays speaking with a person and this leaves the room for ten minutes and comes back, Malcom can't remember who is that other person.

That is sad news indeed...

As a kid at school AC/DC were one of my favourite bands and I have all their albums from the Bon Scott era and still play them regularly.

I used to be able to play a few of Malcolm Young's intros from their 70s classics. Maybe I'll dig out my old electric guitar again. Hope he isn't as ill as it first appears  :(

They played at my high school around 1974. I could have got in for free and the school was a short walking distance from home. I decided not go because study was far more important. Big mistake.

By the way, he is reported to be suffering from dementia and needs full time care.

AC/DC are indeed a great band and I've got most of their albums on vinyl.

Sad that Malcolm is leaving the band, but I'm more amazed that so many old rockers are actually still with us.
