Actually those card readers were used up until the early 1980's in Australia, not the 70's. I should know - I worked in them.

Chunky, and probably a lot easier to repair than the 64Gb SSD I have on my workbench right now.
Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.
