Idea for EEVblog Episode: Radar Site or Radio Telescope Tour?
« on: February 23, 2015, 09:27:55 am »
Dave, since you're "in the industry" and probably have a lot of contacts, do you reckon you'd be able to get us a tour of something like a Bureau of Meteorology radar site or maybe take a trip up to Parkes and get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Parkes Radio Telescope?

I'm sure I speak on behalf of many of your viewers when I say we loved your tour of the old Channel Seven analog television transmission facility at Artarmon (for those who haven't seen it, it's linked down below). It's certainly one of my favourite episodes to-date.

P.S.: Also check your P.M's for a message from me. Might be worth exploring.

I think Thunderf00t on YouTube did a tour of the VLA in New Mexico but I'd certainly be interested to see Dave's take on one.

I'm sure I could get into these places, you usually just have to ask.
It requires me getting off my lazy arse.

Is there anything left of the NASA tracking station out there in Carnarvon, Western Australia?
Or the Parkes Observatory in NSW?

I've been to Parkes, and did a short tourist video on it. Yes, stuff there to be had.
I have an open invite to the deep space tracking network at Tidbinbilla
WA has (what we got of) the new SKA.
