Identifying tools made by Wiha?
« on: February 17, 2017, 12:55:52 am »
Hi,

I found this picture and it looks like this ideal screwdriver is made by Wiha. I was just curious if anybody knows other rebranded tools like this?

I know the Weidmuller terminators they gave us at work has the Wiha logo on it too, so they are just like this picture except in Weidmuller colors.

That actually the High Voltage version.  You can tell by the shrouded stem.  The High Voltage models usually cost extra because of extra insulation and high voltage rating.  You can probably find similar "regular voltage" version and it will be less expansive.

I found Cementex kit in a pawn shop.  Mine are also high voltage version.  The screw drives in mine are probably Kline Tools, but there is no marks that I can see or they are covered by the protective high voltage coating.  Some of the tools in the kit are marked with Channellock logo so clearly Cementex buys tools from others, applies their high voltage protective coating and sells them under their brand name.

Knipex sells Jokari cable knives/strippers under own brand. They also sell Loewe cutters as their own.
And seems only lazy doesn't rebrand this wire stripper (IIRC made by Taiwanese company):

Off hand:
  • Ideal-Tek tweezers get rebranded  quite a bit (Bernstein and Lindstrom for example), as does Sipel and VOMM.
  • Same with Schmitz pliers & cutters (Bernstein, CK Tools, Ohm, NWS).
  • Witte screwdrivers (Xcelite).
  • Both Xuron & Piergiacomo cutters & pliers (stamped steel type).

Correct, the manufacturer of those strippers is K.Y.P. in Taiwan. Also rebranded by C.K Tools !!
As wire strippers go, they are mediocre. Useful for Romex and THHN, but just bad for small wires.
