You already told us our opinions and experiences are entirely irrelevant. You want rude? Look in a mirror. --- End quote --- Ok. |

--- Quote --- NORMAL PEOPLE want a tool they get out that does as advertised --- End quote --- As does all the software running on this linux machine,no tinkering under the hood,no blue screens of death due to a missing dll or other nonsense ,and all the motherboard hardware works without having to load a cd full of drivers --- Quote ---Almost everyone else desperately copies Apple; --- End quote --- :-DD |

Yeah? In my REAL WORLD, normal (relatively 😁) life, in the 21 years I’ve used Linux, not on one SOLITARY occasion has anyone ever asked me “What Linux <insert thing> do I need/would you recommend?” Nope de nope de nope. Never. Those who I’ve asked “have you heard of Linux?” may as well have been asked if they’ve heard of a rock band of mice, who live on the moon in a tent. Yeah it works very well. Granted. I agree. But it’s NEVER EVER going to be a competitor to shrink-wrapped, pre-deployed OS. You think no one has tried? It fails because that market was dominated DECADES ago, and no one uses it except fringe cases like you and I. One has to SEE that one’s a fringe case, and not live in a land of delusion. It’s fine - it’s not a matter of “wrong” it’s a matter of the Linux beardos being too engrossed in their own bedroom “universes” to understand commerce and REAL ACTUAL NORMAL PEOPLE; folk who wake up, use their Mac to check email and edit whatever, shut the lid, grab a coffee whilst texting ON THEIR iPhone, then come home after work and do it all again. People want ZERO FRICTION from a known quantity that’s good a solid reputation and which word of mouth has firmly established Linux AINT THAT. |

--- Quote from: eti on April 19, 2023, 01:10:22 am --- --- Quote from: SiliconWizard on April 19, 2023, 12:49:31 am ---Was that funny though? :-DD (The idea that it could be funny is itself funny.) Anyhow, just wait until MS buys Canonical (yes, I already hinted that once.) Then the real fun will begin! --- End quote --- A problem with Linux is the "community", and the overwhelming lack of coherency and uniformity. Another HUGE problem, most nerds seem to miss (likely due to absent social skills) is the "why" of why macOS and Windows succeed - they do not have a pity party and rant, and behave like "the underdog" - they have a vision (well, Apple do), and they SELL their products unashamedly, instead of cowering in a corner - "Please, why don't you want to try ME?" like the insecure bloke at a school disco, EXUDING desperation and insecurity. Make a BETTER product, IGNORE everyone else and what they are "doing", and KEEP IN LANE - focus - IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE the others, and refine YOUR strengths. Apple seemed to manage it (and HOW!), don't be pathetic and "downtrodden" - the hardware companies don't "owe" anything to Linux vendors - hardware is LITERALLY MADE FOR WINDOWS AND MACOS, BECAUSE THEY SELL MOST, because a uniform, PAID FOR, supported product = ££££ and simple, predictable products for NORMAL USERS. I was once that VERY arrogant, annoying Linux "advocate" who reminded everyone of the "virtues" of "freedom". What a CROCK. Life is short - a tool works well, it sells well and is recommended, END OF. --- End quote --- The problem is with all the PC distro's, linux itself is indeed in all those things that do not require a PC desktop environment. Android and whatever apple run are as close as successful linux get. |

--- Quote from: eti on April 19, 2023, 02:55:03 am ---Nearly forgot. Apple have just opened their first Indian store. This is the start of a huge plan. This is brilliant. Good for them. Expect the envy and “outrage” to increase, by the lesser brands. 🤣 --- End quote --- |
