I have a portable radio that I listen to inside a full metal shed. A real proper Faraday cage. I'm located out from the city so FM reception is fringe, but ok outside with just about any radio. Some times depending on weather the signal inside the shed is perfect. Most of the time, however, it is not.
The radio has a telescopic antenna and though it is powered by the wall socket, it has a battery compartment which of course has a negative terminal.
Have been stringing up various bits of wire in various configurations inside the shed and only getting mixed results. I think that I would like to put an antenna on the roof and would like some suggestions on how I might get a good result without making the chore too complicated.
I've got miles of RG-6 coax.

Get a cheap TV amplifier (ideally with adjustable gain) and connect the input to an outdoor antenna and the output to a length of wire to couple it to the radio.
