The cat apparently got into a fight (I heard it), came home stinking of kerosene heating oil, covered in black dust and gunk. Decided it was probably in her interest to under go the trauma of a bath with washing up liquid.
After giving up drying the cat with the towel, I left her to do her self, she shivered like a leaf. I tried to warm her up. FB friend suggested a hair dryer and I was like "Nope."
... oh ... ah ... I do have a soldering hot air station.
So I lifted the dishevelled cat onto the workbench and set about her with the hot air gun. 100*C it's lowest setting, I always kept my hand on her fur where I was blowing and after a few false starts she seemed to get the idea and even started turning around to help me get her all over.
When she was done with that, she jumped up behind the curtains to resume preening herself. I set the gun to 250*C and pointed it into the space behind the curtain, about 18 inches from her. Putting my hand in there and it was a nice little hot air bubble for her.
I carried that on for another 5 minutes and she seemed dry enough that I would allow her to finish off on top of the Wifi Router. I did lift her onto the gaming PC and run "FurMark" (pun/irony ack.) to produce 35*C air out the top of the vents, but while she seemed to like the warmth, she didn't like the perch and went off to sit in a sunny window instead.
TLDR; Bathed cat. Used soldering gun to dry it. Then attempted to use the gaming PC and a torture test to warm/dry the cat.
