Was just browsing the dell uk website and found that the base price for the 5530 is apparently over 13 million pounds!

Screen shot attached.

Engineered to excel. Designed to impress.

Ventilation looks good with two heatpipes and fans on both ends.

Intel HD Graphics, for that price?
I am NOT impressed

Looking at the cost of the processors and memory and SSD's that cost a tiny tiny fraction I thought £13m was a mistake but no.

Adding it to the basket takes 35% off ( - £3,500,753.08 )
Now that's a deal !

Discount of 81.79 for going with Linux? That actually seems like a lot.

Sounds like you are paying for the design which seems dis-proportional to the hardware.
I think it is more of a mistake and the on site charges are set automatically.

2 Year basic onsite service £0
Quote
5Yr ProSupport Plus and Next Business Day On-Site Service
- £6,499,299.03[
Just as much as the design.

I wouldn't want my laptop thin so it can be bent easily.
Looking at the illustration I see one board.
What value will that depreciate to after 5 years?

On the other hand doing a simple search shows sites selling less than £2016.89

There is a news site that confirmed it but they put it in dollars instead of pounds.
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/07/dell_13m_precision_5530/

I wonder what they are playing at.

Sorry forgot and just attached image.

That is apparently special pricing for the old Dart as Dave would say.  Only a 100 fold increase over pricing for us 'muricans.

Intel graphics on a Precision?!?

No option for Quadro? I wouldn't have bothered purchasing my last two if there wasn't the option for a discreet GPU....
Where does all this test equipment keep coming from?!?

Precision 5530 "With enhanced graphics".
Intel HD graphics found in everything else.
Now That is Snakeoil.

I would also like a pointing stick and some dedicated buttons than a slidy touchpad.
It certainly doesn't impress me.

I'm currently rocking a 4k screen, Xeon CPU Precision 7520, managed to get a US model shipped to my sister in law in Manhattan who then brought it over when she visited.

It was double the price here in Japan!

Ha! Ha!
That looks like a manufacturer or authorized distributor ad ^-^

I have seen items repeatedly listed 10, 100, 1000 times over price..Chinese sellers sometimes do not know where to but the decimal mark US, or mix up decimal and comma.

I learned that business sellers use high price as a place marker when out of stock, (avoid having to re-enter everything?)

There have been times that I went to computer makers' websites and customized the crap out of a machine to see how expensive I can get it. I think my record was about $64,000 for a Mac Pro a number of years ago  :-DD

Yeah, they learned quickly that pricing things at 0.00 or something low like that ends up getting 100,000 orders within the hour; that results in a lot of angry customers when the orders are inevitably canceled.
