Title: Influences on op-amp performance due to power supply variation
Post by: onemilimeter on July 01, 2011, 12:33:31 pm
Input to U2 will be limited to +/-300mV. If the gain of U2 is 8, the output of U2 will be +/-2.4V. The gain of U3 is adjusted in such a way that the Vout will fall within +/-5V.

Since the Vout swings within +/-5V only, I plan to supply the U3 with +/-12V instead of +/-15V as shown in figure below. What're the possible effects on the op-amp performance with lower power supply?

Cheers.

There shouldn't be any significant difference between +/- 12 and +/- 15.  If you were running off +/-5 or even a +5V single supply you might see a reduction in slew rate and bandwidth.
