https://youtu.be/ZaDFNA32qDQI was thinking about the case of using a single laser with a precision mirror, gimbal system which could effectively "charley-plex" all SMD "pad" solder paste spots repeatedly in a loop.
Did a quick search and found the video above. It highlights a lot of pit falls of laser soldering but demonstrates a lot of fixes for said pit falls too.
Most seem to use wire-fed solder and a very short range laser which moves around making the process pretty slow. The demos with a wide area laser or multi-point seem far, far faster. Probably require a far far higher power laser too.
Anyway. I am going to put it on the "not for hobbiests like me.... yet".
