Of course, one of the most famous phreakers was Steve Wozniak of Apple I and II fame.

Yes indeed. Don't you, like me, also get utterly fed up of hearing about Apple NON STOP, though?  ;D

Oh, that takes me back to the 80s, doing some of the early telephone network tone processing by DSP techniques, and spending hours with problematic recordings from the public network, refining my algorithms.
